Grass widows

A cluster of grass widows (Olsynium douglasii) greet the sun at Catherine Creek State Park (last week, before the snow).

Post 1: A test

This is a first post to test this blog-in-progress, and to fill out the page. It's also a very brief report: The "Suksdorfia Group," for lack of a better name, held its first organizational brain-storming session on Thursday evening at Krista's house. The six or seven of us seemed to enjoy the company and an impressive potluck. We shared ideas of the sorts of things this group could do, from flower hikes to plant-identification workshops.

Interested? We're meeting again at Krista's house, on Thursday, March 3, from about 5 p.m. until about 8 p.m. (Thanks, Krista!)

We're planning a gentle flower stroll at Catherine Creek, weather permitting, from about 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5. Leave the dogs, bring the kids!

If you want more information about the Suksdorfia plant outings group being formed in the White Salmon area, email me (ucdintern at gorge dot net).
